The Ruberto Lab at ICOPA 2026 in Montreal

The Ruberto Lab attended the 16th International Congress of Parasitology (ICOPA 2026), held August 16–21, 2026, in Montréal, Canada, bringing together researchers from around the world to share advances in parasitology.

At ICOPA 2026, Dr. Anthony Ruberto presented research titled “Multi-omic profiling reveals genetic markers associated with artemisinin tolerance in Plasmodium falciparum Kelch13 C580Y mutant parasites with different ring survival phenotypes.” The presentation highlighted our efforts to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying artemisinin tolerance and resistance in malaria parasites.

The conference also provided a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with collaborators, former colleagues, and friends from France, Australia, the University of Georgia (UGA), and beyond. It was exciting to exchange ideas, discuss ongoing research, and explore opportunities for future collaborations with the international parasitology community.

We are already looking forward to ICOPA 2030, which will take place in Kuching, Malaysia, in August 2030, hosted by the Malaysian Society of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine. We look forward to reconnecting with colleagues as the International Congress of Parasitology comes to Southeast Asia for the first time!
